The hotel was SENSATIONAL IN EVERY SENSE!!!!! I was kindly greeted by JESUS from the night shift, who was very polite and enthusiastic and helpful. As son as I arrived he gave me maps of the city. He was always in good humor (not like in other cities I went to). ALMA from the morning shift was GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!!! She helped me in so many ways with metro information, touristic information, she told me how to get everywhere and even helped with my luggage (which is also not common). KELBYS and ALDAIR were always present around the lobby, chill out rooms or terrace to help me and solve my doubts. The TERRACE of the hotel is like feeling in PARADISE!!!!! It´s really unbelievable: NEVER SEEN A TERRACE LIKE THAT IN MY LIFE!!!! It had a bar, where you could also eat. It was FULL of places to sit (like small living rooms) and to socialize with other people. It had sun umbrellas and its wall were painted very cheerfully (I will put some pictures now). It even had 2 jacuzzis which were not in use because of the weather (it was COLD). Great music. The hotel organized great events for every day. The dorms were INCREDIBLE: each one had it's own sink, toilette and shower (all separated). There were aldo showers in the hallways (which I sometime used when I got up too early not to make noice). EVERYTHING WAS SO CLEAN AND SPOTLESS!!!! Women were cleaning all the time. The people I met in my dorm (THERE ARE ALSO INDIVIDUAL ROOMS) were great. I don´t know if they located tourists from similar region coutries inentionally, but (I am from Argentina), there were mostly Mexicans, Brazilians and Argentineans, who have a lot in common culturally. AND ONE OF THE BEST THINGS FOR THE END: ITS LOCATION WAS PERFECTTTT!!!!! Half a block away from The Gran Vía, near to the best shops and walking distance to Madrid´s principal touristic attractions. I bought a metro ticket which I nearly didn´t use. I WOULD DEFINETELY STAY AGAIN IN THE GENERATOR ON MY NEXT TRIP!!!!!

My family and I enjoyed the breakfast buffet; basic things but the essential. The lift was very convenient. We asked for transport from the hotel to MAD airport, taxi arrived in 5 minutes with a fixed price of €33; host solved it in a minute and she was very efficient. The room was a bit packed for 4 people, but we only used it to sleep, no biggie. Beds were comfortable, even the bunk bed. Highly recommended!

Generator Hostel is a very straightforward, super well organised Hostel right in the city center. In a female dorm of 8, you get a bed and a locker, there is space to put your things on either a coat hanger or a shelf, and there is a shared toilet+sink+shower in the room. That's a perfect basis! You can also buy everything you need at the reception: flipflops, earplugs, showergel, which came in super handy!

Location is superb, a few steps away from the Gran via and just a few blocks away from Plaza España, Plaza Mayor, Mercado de San Miguel and several metro stations too. Everything looks clean and new. Shared areas (especially the bar at the rooftop) are very nice.

A really cool and funky hostel! I was really impressed with the aesthetics of the accommodation. The roof top bar was amazing! Great drinks and a lovely place to spend the evening. Brilliant location, walking distance to so many restaurants and beauty spots.
